Feb 18, 2020 Shout Out to Jacksonville!
With more than 224+ community service hours, David’s team sets the bar!
Members of Engineering Services continued their support of Foster Closet, a local nonprofit organization that advocates for Northeast Florida’s foster children and foster care providers. The team donated 40 bicycles and scooters with helmets, as well as six training tables and 12 desks for their new offices.
Kim’s Open Door
With the help of teammates at 1MB, Engineering Services donated a Mac to Kim’s Open Door, an organization created to train and mobilize people from diverse backgrounds who teach life skills and inspire kids to dream through mentoring, clubs and events. The new computer enabled them to improve their abilities in recording music and other media supporting the use of the English language and arts. Recently, the organization produced a rap video about bullying, which is an issue locally.
Teammates also hosted a holiday giveback party for the organization’s children, with Santa and elves. With the strong support of facility teams, the group donated gifts for more than 40 children.
Teammates designed and assembled a platform and house for Empowerment Ranch, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing animals, nature and people of all ages and backgrounds together. The platform and house were designed to keep the ranch’s goats out of the elements. In addition, team members donated funds to improve drainage issues, a water retention pond and build two open horse feeding stalls. They also built new fences to retain animals in their field.
Clay County Veterans Appreciation Day Event and Truckin’ for Troops Golf Fundraiser
In addition to serving lunch to veterans, Engineering Services helped with registration and clean-up of the local event, on top of a $5,000 donation from MBUSA. In addition, MBUSA served as a key sponsor (through a $4,000 donation) for the Truckin’ for Troops Golf Fundraiser, which helps American military servicemen and women and their families.
Backpack and School Supply Drive for Oceanway Elementary School
Engineering Services donated and delivered supplies to Oceanway Elementary School to help underprivileged local children with their 2020 supplies.
Cecil Pines Antique Car Show
Benefitting the American Cancer Society, Engineering Services donated gift baskets of MBUSA swag for the auction and donated a gift card with funds raised from their department.
Hurricane and Hunger Relief
Collectively, team members donated 930 pounds of food to hurricane victims in the Bahamas and Feeding Northeast Florida, which helps local children and families, seniors and active and retired military members who struggle to put food on the table.
Engineering Services continues their relationship and internship program with the University of Florida and University of North Florida, as well as local high schools to support engineering programs and career days on their campuses. The team is also supporting a long-term engineering project of a student at the University of North Florida.
