Mercedes-AMG Petronas Secures Two Top 5 Finishes at 2021 Austrian Grand Prix

Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton finished P2 and P4 at Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix. Bottas completed a solid drive to take second place and maximize the points on offer for the second consecutive weekend, while Hamilton suffered damage at turn 10 and nursed the car home well for 30 laps lacking significant downforce.

“For me it’s nice to be on the podium again in second place and I think we really maximized what we could get today,” said Bottas. “Next two weeks of hard work and learning then Silverstone, it will be great to see the fans there and I hope we can pick up our pace to give it a real fight there.”

Max Verstappen (182 points) leads the Drivers’ Championship by 32 points from Hamilton (150), with Bottas (92) in P5. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team (242 points) trails Red Bull (286 points) by 44 points in the Constructors’ Championship.

Formula One returns to action in two weeks at the British Grand Prix. You can watch the race live on ESPN on Sunday, July 18, starting at 10 a.m. ET.
