MBUSA Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Communities In Schools

As part of our mission to raise up students, Mercedes-Benz USA attended Communities In Schools® (CIS) of Atlanta’s 50th Anniversary Choose Success Celebration last month to commemorate its golden anniversary where our team received the Corporate Partner Award for our unwavering support. Members from the Vehicle Distribution were joined by leaders from Atlanta and across the country to award students and faculty for their outstanding community service.

Since 1972, CIS of Atlanta’s evidence-based model has reached struggling students with preventive measures and interventions to keep them on track for success in school by overcoming barriers such as poor attendance and behavior, low levels of parental involvement, limited exposure to academic enrichment opportunities and a lack of access to basic necessities including shelter, clothing and school supplies.

Throughout the pandemic, CIS of Atlanta has continued its important work and served thousands of students and families facing devastation, helping them avoid homelessness, keep food on the table and assist with funeral expenses — all while working to bridge the educational digital divide that has disproportionately affected our Black and brown communities.

We’re proud to be a part of this special evening and organization. Thanks to Rory Hepner for accepting the award on behalf of Mercedes-Benz USA and speaking about our contributions and the nonprofit’s accomplishments.
