The Three-Pointed Star Shines on Its Anniversary

We’re counting our lucky stars, because today marks the anniversary of Mercedes-Benz’s famous trademark.

On June 24, 1909, the three-pointed star was certified as the company’s logo by Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft. Originally designed by Gottlieb Daimler on a postcard, this uniquely shaped star has been moving generations of racers, innovators and drivers.

The star we recognize today began when the company encased the symbol in its ring and applied to the patent office in November 1921.

Throughout more than 110 years as the symbol for the luxury and automotive excellence, this iconic star logo is now one of the most recognizable trademarks in the world.

Happy birthday to the first iteration of our logo! Looking forward to many more years breaking records and starting movements. Click here to read more about the evolution of the star.
